Social Security Acquiescence Rulings explain how the Social Security Administration applies rulings of the U.S. Court of Appeals when the ruling contradicts or is in variance with the Social Security Administration’s policies concerning the adjudication of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) claims and Supplementtal Security Insurance (SSI) claims.

Aquiescence rulings are generally effective on the date of their publication in the FEDERAL REGISTER and apply to all Social Security Administration determinations and decisions made on or after that date unless an Acquiescence Ruling is rescinded.
